A Massachusetts rabbi is urging his congregation to bring their guns to Shabbat claiming their thoughts and prayers are not enough to save them during a mass shooting.
We cant think, Im just praying, and God will save me, said Rabbi Dan Rodkin, of Shaloh House in Boston, in an interview with WBUR.
No, he told the radio station, we need to take care of situations ourselves.
Rodkin points to the countrys recent rise in domestic extremism and hate crimes over the past few years as his reasoning for making such a demand the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, specifically.
I know it sounds horrible, but I think its a very logical approach for the situation were in, he said. I dont want people to have guns. But I think to protect our families, its a necessity now.
Synagogue shooting suspect Robert Bowers allegedly shouted all Jews must die before bursting into a Pittsburgh house of worship and killing 11 worshipers last October. There have been countless other hate crimes involving victims of the Jewish faith, including another synagogue shooting in California back in April.
Neal Gold, president of the Massachusetts Board of Rabbis, told WBUR that he doesnt agree with Rodkins idea to arm his flock, but he does see where hes coming from.
I understand the impulse of this rabbi who says we want to bring more weapons into the community, because we cant breathe right now, Gold said. We were living on blessed time before, but conversations are happening now that we have to be aware of who is coming through our doors.
Jeremy Yamin, a former State Department agent who now works as director of security and operations at Combined Jewish Philanthropies, said other synagogues are thinking of asking their congregations to arm themselves,

They bring guns to synagogue all the time in Israel.
When it comes to security, everyone can learn much from the Israelis.
Our church has a security plan. You won’t notice it if you visit. Very much will look like a man outside greeting late comers. He is really our sentry. Doors locked. Anyone with legal concealed handgun license urged to pack heat to protect congregation against shooters...
Rabbi Rodkin is a Lubavitcher. They are rational folks. I know personally a number of Lubavitchers who carry.
Rabbi Gold may as well be Episcopalian. Its likely Gold doesnt know a single Jew with a gun. He worships the Democrat Party.
“...Our church has a security plan. You wont notice it if you visit. Very much will look like a man outside greeting late comers. He is really our sentry. Doors locked. Anyone with legal concealed handgun license urged to pack heat to protect congregation against shooters...”
Yep. Don’t blame y’all one bit. Ours is the same exact way. No need to call SWAT, just send the coroner over with body bags....it will be over just that quick.

That’s either Orwellian doublethink or another example of “guns for me but not for thee”.
“Oh - you guys go ahead, I forgot my wallet.” (Really to put his gun away.)
The kids were all saying “Oh we know - you have your duffel bag full of guns that you had to stash!”
He was putting away his gun - but the duffel bag his full of clothes for his second job.
I told him he should fill the bag full of nerf guns and “accidentally” spill it out at youth group!
I was an usher at my church for thirteen years and I was always prepared for something to go down.
There’s only about 3000 years of evidence that the only people that can be relied on to protect Jews are themselves. It is amazing how many Jews continue to deny this...

Rabbi gets it...............
My plan to stay alive is to not go to church in the first place, but that’s just me.
Those people who do go to church need to arm and secure themselves. There are very evil people in this world.
BWAHAHAHAHA
Keep the women with guns and PMS near all doors safety ensues.
“Anyone with legal concealed handgun license urged to pack heat...”
Not our church! “No guns allowed” Stickers everywhere.
I feel so safe.
100.00% chance to not die in a church mass shooting.
Very similar to my policy of not dying at a concert mass shooting by not attending concerts.
But I agree that it’s pretty hysterical, but I’m not sure why.
Yup,just saw that on the local news last night. Having at least a few people at a synagogue...or a church...armed isn’t a bad idea these days.
Why not “by invitation only”?
In the olden days of the 1600s-1700s, people were required to bring their firearms to church on Sunday, and drill afterward on the church grounds.
Earlier,in England, they were required to bring their bows and arrows to church for the same reason.
