Power corrupts, and absolute power...

Google may not have absolute power, but they’re huge, and they dominate their markets.

The sad thing is, the one thing that made google the most powerful search engine in the world (their search algorithms) is the one thing they are jeopardizing by becoming political interventionists. At least, keeping it a trade secret will be in jeopardy, and if it’s not a trade secret, then it’s not nearly as powerful, because it can then be replicated.

They just can’t keep their hands off the levers of social and political power, even if it means using their secret search algorithms, and put it all at risk.
