The Turk connection goes back to the time Trump dismissed Flynn. It's the reason I've never fully trusted him.

"...Flynn wrote an op-ed for the Hill. In the piece Flynn wrote –
'...If he were in reality a moderate, he would not be in exile, nor would he excite the animus of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his government. '"

The thing is, Erdogan is now moderate. He's an Islamo-fascist. Flynn was a paid agent of Erdogan's, as reported, though I think his activity was limited to lobbying around DC. Elsewhere it has been noted that Flynn was a spokesman for Tass. He was also described as a freelance "consultant." around the Hill-- one who was too willing to do his employer's bidding.

Hence my skepticism.

Typo alert:

“The thing is, Erdogan is now moderate...”

Should read:
“The thing is, Erdogan is NOT moderate.

Your quote does not have Erdogan described as a moderate. The quote describes IF Gulen was a moderate he (Gulen) would not be in exile. As it stands both Gulen and Erdogan are very bad news. Sometimes bad guys fight each other like mafia families calling a street war.

Secondly, Erdogan did not show his true colors until well into Obama’s 2nd term when he entertained fantasies of bringing back the Ottoman Empire under a new Islamic Caliphate.

Gen. Flynn was engaging in activities with Turkey because they were and still are a part of NATO.

President Trump has in the last week referred to Gen. Flynn as a hero. He along with Adm. Mike Rogers had to run through political minefields when Obama was President. The reason he was fired is that VP Pence was caught off guard in the very early days of the Trump Admin in the WH.

VP Pence was asked by the gotcha media if any member of the admin prior to moving into the WH had had any contact with Russians and VP Pence said “absolutely not” only to be accused of lying when it was revealed that Gen. Flynn had met with Russian diplomats. Gen. Flynn’s firing was a knee-jerk reaction, overreaction because the new young Trump Admin didn’t fully understand who was who and what was what. But today POTUS unequivocally states Gen. Flynn is a hero.

Another very credible insider to the FBI during the Obama Admin, during Dirty Cop McCabe’s tenure, is Robyn Gritz. She was very high up and saw first-hand the corruption. Gen. Flynn came to her rescue and caught hell for it. Robyn has nothing but good to say about Gen. Flynn:

Me too. I remember reading that Erdogan bootlicking Hill op-ed on election day. The pro-islamist bent and timing was just bizarre. It raised all kinds of red flags for me on Flynn.
