I don’t think he trusts his intelligence agencies, especially after he was lied to regarding the use of poison in Britain, which led to the U.S. kicking out 60 Russians. The CIA cannot be trusted!

Bolton should be kicked out of the administration.

Bolton is right where he needs to be.
A strong president with an attack dog
beats a strong president with a chihuahua.

Trump needs a junkyard dog being barely restrained in dealing with adversaries.

John Bolton is an Ivy League lawyer who would convert to Islam and eat a pile of camel sh!t before he would even think of putting on a military uniform.

If that's a "junkyard dog" to you, then you should be supporting Jeb Bush in a 2020 challenge to President Trump.

"Please clap."

It would just unify the Iranians against us. It was a drone that was shot down, not a U.S. jet.

Great assessment. Right now Iran strikes me as a petulant child crying out for attention.

Attacking them would be a huge mistake in that it would be giving them exactly what they want. It would allow the Mullahs to pull the usual “Great Satan” bread and circus act for their citizens. It would allow them to play victim for the world and allow our “allies” to say how wrong we were for tearing up the agreement.

The U.S. should continue to take the high road and invite Iran back to the table. Let Iran continue to tantrum. Our allies will get tired of looking ever more stupid defending them. And ultimately, they will leave us no choice but for justified retaliation if not defense.

You will have to do better than that 20 year old argument to convince me that Bolton does not have the best interests of the USA at heart!

They are there to advise on strategic options since a business man doesn’t have the experience for that.

Trump’s his own man and always has been. It has served him well.

As far as not trusting them, at this point I doubt he trusts more than a handful of people and I don’t blame him. Look at the number of people in politics that have screwed him or talked nice to him in person just to talk shit about him behind his back or worse, in front of a camera.

I’ll listen to your argument — make it!

With proof, of course; links, quotes, etc., etc.

Fine. The only item on my profile page was a post I put on a thread right here on Free Republic when Bolton was first considered for a senior post in the administration back in early 2017:

"I voted for Donald Trump because I was tired of Ivy League globalist pr!cks running this nation’s foreign policy. Anyone who still thinks the invasion of Iraq was a good idea shouldn’t even be allowed to clean the toilets in the White House."

John Bolton is a globalist from top to bottom. He would have been a perfect fit for a Jeb Bush administration. He also would have been a perfect fit for a Hillary Clinton administration ... which should be all you need to know about the guy.

I don’t know what the truth is, but in this case death was not appropriate.

Iran’s expense, cost, wampum are appropriate targets. Anywhere any time. Carbon fibre net their power grid is always a good choice.

“I don’t trust Bolton at all. Too strange. Why Trump gets these swamp dwellers for advisors is beyond me.”

They are sounding boards who offer Trump an opinion that he can weigh his decisions against. I don’t want “yes” men on my team. I want men who will provide an intellectual argument so I can look at all options and make the best decision.

Precisely. Bolton is a good man to have around for ideas and info.

Good thing Bolton isn't President, although there was a time when I thought he'd be a good one.

A good leader listens to all input, then makes a decision, IMHO, Trump made a good decision.

I believe he called off the strike because someone came up with a better plan of attack!

I saw the president on Fox Business channel earlier today say he called off the strikes because he learned that the Iranians were upset with a top level general in their Army who went rogue and decided to shoot down the U.S. drone himself.

But military force should be a last resort, not a first response.

Last week, Tehran publicly mentions that they would be open to destabilizing the Suez, to get the US sanctions to stop...

The two tankers in the Suez are then attacked with military weapons, and US drones are shot down...

Sanctions have been in place for years... Deals and Agreements have been in place for literally decades...

What is this "first response" nonsense?

He knows the Deep State is trying to prod him into a war so they can then attack him. So he factored that into the equation and you’re right that he did the right thing..

Trump was right in canceling the attack. He was being bated into doing something wrong that might cause a loss for the election. At this time the next four years will determine if America survives. BUT, if another attack causes American life, completely in one attack destroy Iran.

I haven’t seen Fox today, but if true, the Iranians better make this public and publically punish the general. Otherwise its just making excuses.

Yes.

He even has someone strongly opposed to tariffs as his top economic adviser.

What on earth is the president thinking?
