Some upstate New York county clerks are taking a stand against the state’s controversial new law granting driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.
Clerks in Erie, Rensselaer, Niagara and Allegany counties have said they won’t be handing out the licenses, despite the legislation signed Monday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Erie County Clerk Michael Kerns said he believes the Green Light Bill, which passed the state Senate 33-29, conflicts with federal policy — and is ready to go to court with his concerns.

I bet Gov. Thug is working on that right now.
The County Clerk should say: “We’ll be happy to issue you a driver’s licence. Please return at 2 pm tomorrow”. And then pick up the phone and call ICE to be there waiting.
With the way it’s written....any of us could put on work clothing, learn a dozen Latin expressions, and show up to get a NY license with no ID and a fake name.
Despite New York State's reputation as uber-liberal, the fact is Upstate is pretty darn conservative in most respects.
Except Ithaca, the City of Evil, of course. :-)
But here’s the point: NO ONE upstate wanted this. We all KNOW it’s vote fraud, and guaranteed to put unsafe drivers on the road. e.g. drivers insurance is a requirement, and you can’t even get that without providing an SSN.
These folks in power are going to get people killed - and they don’t care. (remember the 20 who got killed recently in the limo?)
So... upstate is fighting back - and about time.
As the undocumented New York State Attorney General all I can say is ¡Viva la revolución!
More power to them. Glad to see some bravery upstate, and hope the administration of President Trump makes this a campaign issue and supports them in every way possible.

They’ll just change it where they can. Illegals can get insurance in California. Of course can and do are 2 different things. But most states once they allow them to receive drivers licenses the insurance companies just follow along and allow them to buy insurance.
They’ll face jail time just like the clerks who refused to give marriage licenses to gays.
