They are insane.
Even if they have their own issues w the US, to support the terrorists is insane and evil.
They're been supporting and arming these and other terrorists for a very long time. Russia has never stopped being evil. They've invaded their neighbors, assassinated or jailed political opponents, worked secretly to undermine our war efforts (ie, help our enemies...enemies who are most often their allies), on and on.
