THE EPOCH TIMES ^ | June 13, 2019 | Charlotte Cuthbertson

Tired of waiting for the federal government to fix the border, Sheriff Mark Dannels decided to take matters into his own hands. A personal run-in with a Mexican cartel only cemented his motivation to rid his county of cross-border crime.

“We didn’t put politics into this. Politics has no business in policing. We don’t care what your political affiliation, we care about how we can enhance that quality of life for the citizens of Cochise County. And we did that.

Please come over and become the governor of California.

Just imagine what this man could do with some trained volunteers. Some former cops or some veterans that are willing to use some of their GI Bill money to go through an academy and get certified, would augment his ranks. He, his department and volunteers would be a model of success.

Per the article:

“There were 37 experienced smugglers [on one property] that are now sitting in prison,” Dannels said.

Now they need Sheriff Joe style prisons.

Inspiring but futile. Unless there is an overwhelming political and social consensus in California, Arizona and New Mexico to secure the border and preserve American culture and heritage, the “reconquesta” and the transformation into something alien and unpalatable will continue. This sheriff is heroic but ultimately the Democrats and their ilk will undermine and stop him.

A Sheriff can DEPUTIZE people without going through all that.

But you make a great point..

Yep. Pin a tin star on them. Preferences given to military veterans especially those with combat experience. No pay but expenses covered for gas, food, and ammunition.

Run them through NICS and let the hilarity ensue.

That’s right. I’m a VN combat vet and I’d be there.

There would be no shortage of volunteers.

I say it’s going to happen sooner than later.

Howard Buffett (son of Warren Buffett) has property there on the border, he donates $$$$ to the Cochise County Sheriff’s office for technology and other things deputies need. I have no problem with that but unless other border areas have their own wealthy donor not sure this can work everywhere.

I would post a link but the stories I found were all socialist rags that make this out to be a bad thing and him a bad man for doing this- but a quick search of Howard Buffett and the Cochise County Sheriff’s office will lead you to links.

Don’t leave Malibu, Mill Valley, and Santa Monica off that list.
We have a lot more coastal resort (liberal) cities we could to that list here in California.

The reason I say “trained/certified”:

https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/leosa-pay-to-play-scheme-some-big-names-involved/?fbclid=IwAR0tBTkOV-
q63aMrIgAYOsI9AeJriz4omQpUEDU6sSjQfxigxkk5JyXZEbw

And if I’m not mistaken, he also might be the guy that was handing out badges and IDs to any former member of the Special Operations units. All you had to do was pay some money or be a “somebody” and you got your stuff. And I think it all came out when one of the badge holders shot somebody in a bar, tried to show his stuff. And when they investigated it further, discovered that they guy had never been through any training.

The rich folks like the Koch Bros and others get their bodyguards badges so they can travel with them, anywhere they go. Especially if they have to go to California, NY, NJ, Mass. And there’s even more to it than that, but a totally different topic.

But, I wouldn’t want to see him or his department get rolled up into something bad.

If I had the ability and time, I’d get my certification back and volunteer as much time as I could to the man. Nothing like some ‘out of the box thinking’ to solve a problem.

I’ll have to politely disagree with that. Prison means we have to pay for it. I guess we pay for it one way or another. But, now it seems that our 3rd world neighbor to the South is threatening their own tariffs.

I guess we’re creeping toward war. Smugglers should be treated as enemy combatants. Detain them. Bio metrics and then flown somewhere South, way South of the border. If they come back again, immediate incarceration, like a parole violation. Released after a year and flown back. Come back a 3rd time, bullet to the brain and left in the desert for the animals.

Prisons do not need to be money pits.
