A year ago, all of the Americans over aged 55 working in my business unit (including myself), were laid off, while all of the India-based members of the same team were unaffected. I worked for a leading IT Company. All of us American employees had 30 to 35+ years with this company.
Most of us have been unable to find new jobs. American white males over age 60 are not a prime hiring demographic. Most of today’s progressive, all-inclusive, diversity-driven High Tech companies seem to have an unspoken promise to hate Whitey when it comes to hiring decisions. They give you extra penalty points for being an older American.
