You can’t promise technological breakthroughs. This is worse than promising “free stuff”, it’s promising something with no basis for being able to deliver it.
Talk about empty promises.
Absolutely right. It's one thing to promise to provide sufficient funding and encourage efforts that may lead to a breakthrough in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. It's quite another thing to just come out and promise to cure cancer when you have no way to guarantee that promise will be fulfilled. It's not only irresponsible, it's also cruel to give false hope to those suffering from this terrible disease.
