Good for him. I hope Trump puts aside differences and responds in some way, to urge Congress to act.
A thuggish gut-punch. A comprehensive evisceration of the craven animals befouling OUR congress. Hate the little turd but this address was freaking remarkable.
Nancy’s House of Reprobates is sort of busy right now trying to overthrow the President of the United States because he makes them sad. Everything else will have to wait.
Getting health care and medical benefits for first responders...
Is he saying they dont have that already?
This is all about the pension funds...which ain’t healthy.
Don’t s’pose Stewart talked about that, eh?
Any fund in New York is a slush fund for politicians and their cronies. Most likely 70% to 80% maintenance fees!!!
What the hell are you talking about? This is about 9/11, not “friends, neighbors, relations, bystanders.”
This isn’t about 9/11.
Or even first responders.
It’s about unions and pension funds.
And Stewart is a good little union stooge.
Oh, I’d love to see where all the money has gone over the past 18 years, but to say this has nothing to do with the city workers who ran into the buildings and are now dying because of it is silly.
The workers don’t matter. Not to the unions. They’re just grist for the unions’ mill.
To think otherwise is naive.
BTW, we had someone down there for a while after 9/11. We know a little something about it.
I know dozens of people who were there for weeks/months. I still work with a number of them. And while I don’t think the situation is as dire as some make it out to be, there are problems with the way it has been handled. What I haven’t heard is why they need this funding since medical costs for city employees should be covered. But perhaps it only goes so far.
It only goes so far because the unions are going broke.
What Stewart is shilling for is a union bailout.
I can only speak to the NYPD pension funds, but they are totally flush. This probably has to do with going after federal money because of the nature of the event. I’m sure the insurance companies and the unions are working together to get federal money. Where that money goes is anyone’s guess, and this entire fiasco is just another reason I can’t wait to leave this city/state.
The place probably was empty because a few of their sub-groups were in other rooms conspiring against the President. I agree with JS’s rant about the low attendance.
The subject of his testimony is another thing. First responders are more than compensated through their government healthcare plans. Also, they know there is massive varied risk involved when they take the jobs.
