As a straight woman, I would like to say that this— and numerous other kneejerk comments in this thread suggesting these 2 women were somehow “asking for it” in 2019 by RIDING A PUBLIC BUS TOGETHER WITHOUT MALE ESCORTS, FOR CHRIST’S SAKE, or that it MUST have been a hoax because they were lesbians or they WEREN’T BLEEDING ENOUGH to satisfy some people — offend me to my very core.
FWIW, as a young college student I was assaulted— & ssuccessfully fought off— an attacker who broke into my home.
Police asked me what I’d been wearing (5 minutes before!) & proceeded to suggest that my swelling face, where I’d been punched, indicated I “like it rough, honey”; that I was probably asking for it by living alone in a cheap apartment, and anyway, since I’d screamed & fought him off, no crime or harm had “really” occurred.
The only appropriate response to incidents such as the OP is to urge women to learn to protect themselves, learn to FIGHT and to SHOOT.
It’s NOT to suggest they lock themselves indoors, too terrified even to ride the bus!
