It would take a lot longer than 24 hours for Adam to check out all the animals for a suitable companion therefore God’s days are not the same as our 24 hour days.

Except the Bible clearly tells us each day was “evening and morning”, so they are obviously terrestrial days marked the same way that we mark them.
