Mexico aims to avoid tariffs with potential deal limiting migrants going north, allowing U.S. to deport Central American asylum seekers

U.S. and Mexican officials are discussing the outlines of a deal that would dramatically increase Mexico’s immigration enforcement efforts and give the United States far more latitude to deport Central Americans seeking asylum, according to a U.S. official and a Mexican official who cautioned that the accord is not finalized and that President Trump might not accept it.

Faced with Trump’s threat to impose escalating tariffs on Mexican goods beginning Monday, Mexican officials have pledged to deploy up to 6,000 National Guard troops to the country’s border region with Guatemala, a show of force they say will make immediate reductions in the number of Central Americans heading north toward the U.S. border.

The Mexican official and the U.S. official said the countries are negotiating a sweeping plan to overhaul asylum rules across the region, a move that would require Central Americans to seek refuge in the first foreign country they set foot upon after fleeing their homeland.

Your post cracks me up: You typed “he11” to avoid using the word “hell,” but have no problem typing “shithole” — twice. LOL.

And you ‘point’?

Now THAT was funny, Lab!

At my school we are strictly forbidden to discuss the immigration status of any of our students with outside agencies.

Agencies? What about in casual, personal conversation or on personal social media?

Just curious...are you in Ft Worth?

Fair or not, President Trump owns this mess. I’ll wait to hear from him on this.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Fair or not, the dead beat do nothing congress (along with their open boarder sugar daddy lobbyist) owns this mess.

these proposed tariffs don't touch anyone that can do without an avocado or cervesa.

Real simple solution: change the law & built tbe wall

No, the SF bay area (no surprise, right?). Outside agencies meaning any law enforcement, eg. ICE.

“ a move that would require Central Americans to seek refuge in the first foreign country they set foot upon after fleeing their homeland.”

That is the current refugee law that Mexico is flouting through non-enforcement.

We want more.

So, they stop everyone EXCEPT Mexicans from coming in to America

Well, it's a start...

‘So, they stop everyone EXCEPT Mexicans from coming in to America.’

The entire problem regarding Central Americans is a TOTALLY STUPID-ASS guilt-driven law signed by Bush in 2007 [I think], which puts Central Americans on virtually the same footing as Cubans - once they’re here, they can stay and claim asylum until they get a hearing...and we all know the rest. Mexicans, not so easy - we walk them straight back, after photographing, printing them, and taking DNA, plus they are not permitted to legally enter for 10 years [if deported]...lots of incentives for Mexicans to do it right, at least relative to Central Americans.

The problem with these guilt-drive laws is that no one figured that Soros, US lawyers, churches, Mexico, and the Democrat Party would all work together to send millions of them here...they all thought maybe 100 or so would make it a year. SO THEY PUT NO CAP ON HOW MANY QUALIFY - and hence here we are, with the caravans.

Limiting migrants going north....

Change that to....stopping all immigrants going north...and there might be a deal.

I’ll have to politely disagree. He gets taken to court, at the 9th Circuit, when he gets out of bed.

The courts issue nationwide injunctions, which there is no precedence for, and Barr(apparently) is investigating that. I think I read that prior to Pres DJT, there’ve only been a small handful of nationwide injunctions in the history of the court.

The Pope is on record sending money to help these people make the trip.

AMLO is on record saying that is the right of Mexican’s and everyone else to immigrate to the US for a better life.

RINOs have done and are doing everything they can to obstruct him. They tried to override his emergency declaration earlier this year. And are now plotting on overturning the tariff’s for their corporate masters and puppet masters.

The Dem Governor of New Mexico pulled her Guard troops completely opening the flood gates and now she wants help. Although she doesn’t really say what kind of help she wants. If she wants control of her border, why doens’t she put her Guard troops back down there? Or does she just want federal money to help take care of all of them? Counties and cities in her state are already passing laws to deny the settlement of more of the illegals. She tried to sneak a few busloads up to Denver, working with a private organization, until the Dem mayor of Denver found out about it. Funny how the folks that run Sanctuary cities and states, don’t seem to want anymore illegals looking for sanctuary. Which was proven by Pres DJT.

The man had an opportunity to do some really good things had it not been for Ryan and all the other corporate-owned RINOs. I’m not saying the President is perfect, as he’s juggling more than one chainsaw, but with all the obstruction he’s received from his “own party”, the Dem’s, Mueller and now Nadler, I think he’s doing the best he can.

I think that if a million or two of his supporters showed up in DC to show that support, things could possibly change.

Trump can’t lose on this. If he is thwarted in this attempt to do what a large majority in this country believe needs to be done it will be seen as another attempt to obstruct him in the performance of his sworn Constitutional duty to protect and defend the country.

This is his first and by far most important duty!

I like the idea, but Eisenhower didn’t have liberal activists judges blocking him at ever turn.
