CHICAGO — Illinois gas taxes haven’t been touched in decades, but this summer, gas taxes will practically double.

As part of Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s attempt to balance the state budget, the state’s gas tax will double to 38 cents per gallon beginning July 1. That puts Illinois in the top five states for the highest total gasoline taxes.

“Illinois is going from one of the lower gas taxes in the region to one of the highest,” Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com founder, said.

Cities in Cook County also have the option to raise gas taxes by an additional 3 cents a gallon. Drivers will also see a $50 annual increase in vehicle registration fees for most vehicles starting with the 2020 registration year.

Someone should start a running count of borderline gas stations that survive or close.

I have long not bought gas in the Ill. State while traversing it. Because ‘Rat politicians don’t deserve encouragement. My policy will remain in effect.

Democrats destroy you if you live in their cities. Only the parasites do okay. If your livelihood is dependent upon taxes, you raise them to the highest levels of pain.

Illinois slaves must take a loss on their lively homes.
Try to leave and the parasites destroy you.

Democrats HATE grandma. Grandma must be crushed into poverty.

Instead try to choose a State to live in that is the last eaten by Democrat parasites.

How many Grandmas out there have not yet learned that Democrats are their enemy, they raised all your oainful taxes while lying about their wickedness.

Too bad the Trump era was not after Democrat towns went bankrupt, when they will demand bailouts from good people.

Fortunately, my wife and I live only a mile from Lake County. We always go across the border for gas and save between 10 and 15 cents a gallon. The same for liquor and wine.

Unfortunately, we’ll still get hit with the State increase. And I can almost bet the majority of this increase will not go to road repair, etc. It will somehow end up funding public pensions.

Any chance that the revenue will be used to fix transportation in that state?

Wisconsin gas was never a bargain. Indiana was already cleaning up, and will continue to do so. Same with Missouri. Not as much traffic goes through to Iowa. Unfortunately, Illinois downstaters once again pay for the sins of Cook County.

In the Quad Cities stations just across the river clean up. Unfortunately the ones in Bettendorf are taking a hit from the closure of I-74 due to construction of the new bridge.

If you think that the Dems in IL are going to actually use the money to fund the pension money they’ve stolen over the decades I’ve got a bridge for sale.

Idiots!!! I have multiple friends accelerating plans to leave IL.

Other than some nice places to hunt and fish in Southern IL, or maybe big time farm owners, why the heck would anyone not on the gov’t teat want to be in IL?
