What is going on now goes far beyond normal human conduct in our historical experience. The 1883 Pendleton Act provided that Federal Government jobs be awarded on the basis of merit and that Government employees be selected through competitive exams

That people in the government are working outside the system, at EXTREME levels, is normal human conduct.

Once again to History - Old Hickory a pale version of Trump back on the 1830's implemented this Spoils system. And as you point out it took 50 Years of this Barbara Streisand to try and address this.

Today we have a plethora of Federal Agencies - Started by Tricky Dick Nixon and added to by numerous succeeding presidents and Congresses

One good example of the ELECTED royalty in abdicating their jobs - The commission on eliminating military bases.

Agree with you EXCEPT:

Today we have a plethora of Federal Agencies - Started by Tricky Dick Nixon...

Started by Franklin Roosevelt. Then again, some say Woodrow Wilson, or even Teddy Roosevelt.

Nixon didn't help, and certainly pig piled on, but FedGov's big growth started in the 1930s.

Yeah, they're a bunch of disease-ridden, child-molesting whackjobs.

Speaking of Maine - I saw that there are some Sanctuary cities in Maine that believe that the Second Amendment needs to be protected.

So, there is life in Maine after all - even if most of you are French

Ok, everyone use your grown up brains to think about it. Don’t emote. Use straight logic. The more you know about science and nature, the better.

STEM is not a strong suite here - China, India - mainly due to the fact that the Bell curve is the same all over the world have more STEM than here in the U.S.

The BIG difference is INCENTIVES - most STEM people in the U.S Make $$$, not quite the same in China or India - both countries are extremely socialist and corrupt.

Your garden sounds wonderful....here in the wet NW we get great peas sometimes (and greens)...but planting everything else you are talking about...hahaha...not till about now is it worth it to start, altho I’ve got some overwintered potatoes. The soil is now, maybe at 50 degrees...

And, thanks for your Sunday Morning diligence...saves me from having to watch...

Federal agencies have grown like Topsy. Once created, they are difficult to get rid of. Technology and automation should enable greater productivity and reductions in force. The USG has been slow to embrace and adapt technology to streamline government operations. Bureaucratic inertia and parochialism have been stumbling blocks to implementing change. Congress has also been a problem as the various committees want to retain control over their fiefdoms.

The ONLY way to address this metastasizing cancer of Federal/State Agencies is to impose a 20-25 year time limit on their existence. The agencies can come up for renewal BUT it must be a VOTE by Congress - this is the MINIMAL amount of accountability we should be asking for

Last night I was thinking perhaps, since they knew all along there was no crime there, their sole objective, including the badgering, imprisonment of lower targets, am raids, was to simply get a attempt to hide or sway testimony or facts, by the President, which they THEN could use to hand an obstruction tire round his neck.

He did not cooperate, instead, out maneuvered them at every move, and came up clean, while they were left with shit on their face.

Good, but not enough.

Government employee unions AT ALL LEVELS have to go away and never, ever even get discussed again.

Until Attorney Barr begins exposing the criminals one by one and explain their abuse of their power we are in danger of continued damage to our Constitution and country by the Dems.

That's the big question, isn't it? Lots of talk so far, but no arrests. Hope they come, but...

There are no cities in Maine.

even if most of you are French

Nice slur.

You mean like...Paul LePage?

The "French" in Maine are US citizens, whose forbears came from Quebec looking for work....not France. They have a strong work ethic, and the police blotters seldom contain French names.

Let’s face it Barak installed his people into these agencies and then used them like a KGB Soviet style SS to intimidate and harass citizens.
