Italy has a budget problem. It's budget deficit is forecast to smash the EU rules. It is vital for Italy that the EU remain in place ( or so the thinking goes). President Trump is not a big fan of the EU in contrast to Mrs' Clinton and Obama. Effectively he has led a rise in Nationalism across Europe.
Don’t conflate globalist traitors with the nation itself. This was never meant to benefit Italy, only their disloyal former leader.
