When Taiwan became the first place in Asia to legalise same-sex unions, hundreds of gay people marked the occasion by registering to marry.
It marked a significant change on the island, where the majority of people only relatively recently became supportive of same-sex relationships.
In many other places there has also been a shift - often a rapid one - towards more liberal attitudes.
For example, in 2007, one in five South Koreans said homosexuality should be accepted, -but, by 2013, that figure had doubled.
Attitudes among the public also appear to have softened in other places including Argentina, Chile, the US, Australia, India and many in Western Europe.
But these changes do not always mean full equality. In Taiwan, for example, the government stopped short of granting full adoption rights.
Elsewhere, some nations are bringing in stricter anti-gay laws and same-sex relationships remain illegal in about 69 countries. On Friday, Kenya's High Court upheld a law banning gay sex.
Pockets of opposition
In some countries, opposition towards gay relationships is deeply entrenched and may be growing.
For example, in Ghana, where gay sex can be punished with a prison sentence, attitudes have become even less accepting.
In 2013, a poll suggested 96% of Ghanaians believe society should not accept homosexuality.
Elsewhere, official punishments for gay sex may provide insights into how residents, or at least their leaders, view homosexuality.
For example, Brunei recently made sex between men punishable with death through stoning, although it has since backtracked on this.
Another issue is that while laws and perceived attitudes may appear to have become more relaxed in some countries, the reality may be very different for the LGBT community there. For example, while Brazil's Supreme Court has recently voted in favour of making homophobia and transphobia crimes illegal,

Is the world becoming more gay-friendly?

The “World” is opposed to the Spirit of God.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,[d] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do[e] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
No— not the REAL world. Only the weasel pimp one of nancy boys, and butch dyke male wannabees and their mental illness, fighting biology at all times.
Im guessing that several countries in the Middle East havent gotten the word.
No. The world is not becoming gay friendly. The world has become gay terrified. What you see is not friendliness it is fear that the normal will be labeled a hater and his life and career ruined.
We have all developed gay Stockholm syndrome.
It’s being forced down everyone’s throats.
Not gay friendly in Russia.
The Corporate Homo Mafia has taken over, to include every government agency.
Homofascists, like Feminazis, didn’t want ‘equality’, they want supremacy. Homosexuals have done more in less time in acquiring power than “women”, radical Marxist dyke Kate Millet would be okay with that, she resided in both camps.
“take away HIS power!”
“smash the patriarchy”
“smash the state”
No. Its just one of the pillars of communism being used to break down the family. We are strong together. Divide and separate. Thats how communism and satan will concur from within.
There is an epic backlash to the homosexual supremacists’ bullying.
I predict in ten years homos will be driven so far back in the closet you will swear they don’t exist anymore.
Only in first world countries, and third world countries are out breeding us.
Most of us just dont say its disgusting in public. It will get one fired.
Forcing Gay on everyone is not Friendly
Spiritual awakening is needed. Jesus spoke of some things only being taken away by fasting and prayer.
We can rail against the darkness until we collapse, or we can humble ourselves before our Creator and cry for His intervention.
A pagan worldview - i.e., the view that prevails in most of the world - will tend to approach homosexuality either by endorsing it or by saying that it might be stupid or weird, but it’s really no big deal. Only religious viewpoints (including Buddhism) - which view the world as ordered and rational - will oppose homosexuality as a serious aberration.
On the books yes. Off the books, no.
America will lead the way towards making homosexuality unacceptable again. We tried acceptance, and we have accumulated more than enough evidence that sustainable social structures can’t accommodate it, and that it invites sexual predation on children.
There are plenty non-theistic reasons to want to have nothing to do with homosexuality... disease and protection of children from rape being two big ones.
