Lindsey Graham on Venezuela: ‘I would do what Reagan did in Grenada’
The National Sentinel ^ | 5/27/19 | Jon Dougherty

Sen. Lindsey Graham has always been a defense hawk, so it comes as no surprise that he’s hawkish on Venezuela.

But he might be just a tad too hawkish, judging by an interview he gave on “Fox News Sunday.”

Probably frustrated by the U.S.-backed failed coup attempt in Venezuela in April, the South Carolina Republican pretty much recommended to POTUS Donald Trump that he launch a Grenada-style invasion of Venezuela, despite obvious differences in the forces we would likely encounter.

“Trump said rightly, [current President Nicolas] Maduro’s not the legitimate leader of Venezuela. The entire region supports the Trump approach, that Guaidó is the legitimate leader,” Graham said.

That’s because he doesn’t have any. If he had any he’d think otherwise.

Venezuela is about 50,000 times the challenge of Granada.

Senator Graham can say that crap. A President Graham wouldn’t get away with it.

He’s a sociopathic war mongers. If you’ve watched him at Senate hearings, he appears orgasmic screaming “Can we kill him?” at our Military Leaders.

Sad that we would likely lose some troops, and a little money.

For that, we would get:

1) Rid of a major drug lord in Maduro and his cronies

2) The country with the world’s largest oil reserves back on line and in our favor

3) An end to the largest humanitarian crisis in our hemisphere

4) A strong message sent to Socialist dictators around the world

5) A stop to a major cause of the flood of illegal immigrants at our border

Trump tried. It didn’t work. Back to status quo. GW and Ike told us, intervention and attack are not the answer.

And the Lindsey Graham that we all know and despise is back.
I wonder where he’s been?

I don’t lie awake at night worrying about how we can fix Venezuela, Syria or Iran.

5) A stop to a major cause of the flood of illegal immigrants at our border

**********************************

The primary cause of the massive flood of illegals are our permissive policies and our easy access welfare.

Destroy our own domestic enemy and the rest takes care of itself.

As to Venezuela, all self inflicted wounds. No one can fix it but Venezuelans. Especially now. We’d be right back into the “we were for it before we were against it” and our war fighters being put on trial for their lives if they dared to actually fight.

The domestic enemy will *not* allow us to be successful in *any* foreign war. Period.

Granada was a fruit stand.

Venezuela would be a bit more challenging.

He’s a warmongering neocon when it comes down to it. You don’t play robin to McCain’s batman for years without being pretty thoroughly corrupted.

But he always plays just conservative enough every six years to get re-elected.

Grenada: island, population 100,000, land area 135 square miles.

Venezuela: continental, population 32,000,000, land area 354,000 square miles.

Yeah, just like Grenada.

“I killed an ant with my bare hands, so it should be just as easy to kill a jaguar the same way.”

Graham is an idiot.

An invasion of Venezuela would only result in our young troops dead and a rush to our border for more asylum seekers. Let them rot over there. No political refugees.

We should set up a safe zone and bring food and weapons to make it a fair fight.
