I haven't checked that but assuming it's accurate, if that is the information Downer passed on after meeting with Papadopoulous, I really don't see what the problem is. Would you expect the representative of the Australian government in the United Kingdom not to pass on information like that to Canberra if he was given it. Would you expect him to sit on his hands and do nothing?
It is part of his job to report information to the Australian government.
Information that Russians had dirt on a former US Secretary of State is definitely information that should be passed on.
The most ridiculous thing about this whole narrative is the idea that there was any need for “dirt” on Clinton after she and her aides had already been caught mishandling classified information, stonewalling investigators, ignoring subpoenas and destroying evidence.
It makes no sense that if none of that was impairing her campaign, that anyone could think some additional dirt from the Russians would do the trick.
