Your reference to Equestrian events has me thinking….

In the horse racing world, there are events for colts and events for fillies. On rare occasions a filly will be entered into an event against the colts - think Ruffian, for instance. Yet, her greatness was because she actually could compete against males, and she was such a phenom that they decided to have a special match race against a colt. Although she ran well, she stumbled, broke her leg, and was euthanized. It was all over the sports pages.

This event brings up the reality of males and females competing against each other. The rarity of competitive females against males is newsworthy, and in horse racing it is no different. Males are much stronger that females and that is why they have races for fillies. They are just as exciting, but not generally known as the publicity favors the colts. More money, etc..

Having athletic events pitting women against men is idiotic. Why is society always promoting dissension between Men and women? In this world, esp. amongst mammals, the world revolves around 2 genders. It takes 2 to tango.

As for beach volleyball, I wonder how it would look to have men competing in women’s gymnastics? Hmmm..... intersex leotards, anyone???
