Exactly. BoJo is a fool.

But he will become PM.

I think he should become PM and deliver no-deal Hard Brexit.

They never needed a “deal” and wasted 2 years trying to negotiate one that was never going to work. The head “negotiator” for UK did not want to leave and the EU is playing for bigger stakes than The UK. The easier they make it for the UK to leave the more at risk that Hungary, and others will leave.

The fear mongering of a hard brexit are just that. England has existed for over a 1000 years and in the EU for less then 25 years it’s asinine to fear monger the end the world in a hard Brexit. And no one on the UK side ever prepared for that which was stupid. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

UK is in the WTO... it’s not as though trade will halt over them leaving. Terms will be different and the US would happily knock out a quick trade agreement with the UK as well. Yes there will be some short term pain for a hard Brexit, but had they just executed they would already have worked through most of that pain but no waisted 2 years with crap.

I watched a bit of Sky News this morning and a guest claimed that privately Boris Johnson is talking about having a second referendum. Make of that what you will.

BoJo will go for anything that will keep him in power. That being said, he will be better than Theresa May in listening to what can keep him in power.

If a no-deal can ensure him a long premiership, he will do it. If a second referendum will help him, he will do this.

I think he’s funny, likeable and a rogue. May was not funny, unlikeable and a scheming yet useless rogue. She wanted power but was unable to keep it. Boris wants power and can maintain it.

However beware - Gove has tossed his hat in the ring again

1. The UK needed a deal, considering that much of its manufacturing is part of the western europe supply chain and adding tarriffs can screw (and has screwed) it up. it needs a deal as much of its status as a financial center is dependent on it being part of the EU

2. The head negotiator - David Davis was a leading leave.

3. Yes the EU was playing for bigger stakes. But tell me how they could have made it easier for the UK than they already did? you don’t give an outsider more rights than a club member. Would the US give Belize more rights to trade with the states than say Delaware has?

4. England has existed for 1000 years and will continue to exist post Hard Brexit. the UK probably won’t - with Scotland breaking away and NI joining RoI. It won’t end but it will lose a lot of its economic heft. No use talking of what it was 150 years ago. Today England-Wales outside the EU is a middling power. That is today.

5. UK in the WTO means that after leaving it will need to impose tariffs on products going to the continent and vice-versa. The UK has the disadvantage of no manufacturing.

6. You are correct that there will be short and medium term pain for a hard Brexit, but what is sickening is that people portrayed and still portray it as “a walk in the park” or “we survived WWII” - come on, saying “ok, it’ll be better than when the Nazis were dropping bombs on us” is hardly a defensible argument.

However on the main we agree that they have wasted two years
