Switzerland has voted to impose a slate of new gun laws that align the country more closely with the European Union, state media reported on Sunday.
The measures would, among other things, require special waivers to own semi-automatic weapons with detachable high-capacity magazines, and impose a serial number tracking system for key parts of some guns. Gun owners would have to register any such weapons not already registered within three years, and keep a registry of their gun collections.
However, as Mike from Bloke on the Range, a popular Youtuber based in Switzerland, told GunsAmerica via email, the implementation of these new regulations hasnt been finalized and in their current form are unworkable.
Semi-auto long guns equipped with 11+ round magazines and pistols with 21+ round magazines have changed categories and will require owners to prove shooting club membership or regular private range shooting. A sport shooter has to show either that a) theyre a member of a shooting club, or b) shoot regularly. Regularly is undefined at the moment, but Mike says it looks like theyre going to work on the basis of five times in five years.
But portions of the implementing rules dictate that these newly restricted firearms include those fitted with, stored with, or transported with high-capacity mags. The second item needs more definition, according to Mike, and the third is totally impractical.

Cowardly
“The measures would, among other things, require special waivers to own semi-automatic weapons with detachable ‘high-capacity magazines,’”
At lease there aren’t any restrictions on high-powered magazines.

What? Cause I didn’t get down to Sportsmans yet? Oh, the Swiss. Yeah, sad. >62% voted yes. But, I don’t know what percentage of the population voted. Then again, if you didn’t vote, ya can’t complain. Even though some still do. Have an awesome weekend. Honor or heroes.
How compromised is their media?
Considering that 99% of Big Media reports the same thing, perhaps they trust their POS “journalists” more than we do.
Well since I haven’t seen the new proposed stuff, we can’s say for sure if ‘shoulder goes up thingys’ or ‘forward hand grips’ are included. If they really want to put a damper on terrorism, they’ll insist on bullet buttons too. That’ll stop ‘em.
Someone should hand AOC a bill to support for ALL firearm barrels to now be equipped with red tips.
For warning people that they’re dangerous, of course.
Used to be households in Switzerland were required to keep and maintain a machine gun. Crime rate was low...
While stationed in Germany I visited Basel three times where I met a Swiss army Colonel who lived in an apartment looking like very much like my family had Chicago. In his kitchen cupboard is where he stored his weapons.
Am fairly certain rate of fire was not part of the mandate.
The Militia System
In Switzerland, military service is compulsory for all able-bodied men, and alternative civil service is only available for conscientious objectors. Those unwilling to serve must pay a fine.[32] Conscription begins at age nineteen,[33] and the duty to serve ends between the ages of thirty-four and fifty, depending on the rank of the militiaman.[34]
Militiamen are issued personal equipment, which includes a personal weapon and ammunition.[35] The militiaman is authorized to keep the weapon in his home,[36] unless he decides to deposit it in his units armory.[37] When the militiaman retires, he may keep the personal weapon,[38] provided it has been properly maintained by the qualified technicians of his military unit.[39]
If there is danger of the abuse or improper handling or maintenance of the weapon, the commandant of the military unit will confiscate the personal weapon.[40] The police, courts, and prosecutors may inform the commandant of circumstances that call for the confiscation of the weapon.[41] The abuse or mishandling of weapons is punishable either by a disciplinary measure or by imprisonment or a fine, depending on the circumstances.[42]

So now they will have the EU muzzie hordes all register their un serialized AK’s produced by the thousands in Afghan/Paki-land. The official weapon of he jihadi has always been in pictures, a full auto AK with a banana mag.
Sad. The Swiss used to be renowned for their independence. Now they bow down and surrender a key piece of their sovereignty to the Yurps.
We all know this wont be the end. Now that they have shown weakness, the Yurps will keep coming back for more and more and more of Switzerlands national sovereignty until they have effectively reduced it to the status of being a colony.
IIRC, a retiring Swiss reservist who wished to keep his issue rifle only had to have it converted to semi auto fire only.
But for all those years of militia service he had a fully automatic rifle and ammunition in his home. No talk of government approved safes, either.
Never thought the Swiss would give up their independence to an organization that they don’t even belong to. And they are the only society in Europe that can confront the Muslim threat with deadly force.
Long term, this will give additional examples of problems with socialism.
“Never thought the Swiss would give up their independence to an organization that they dont even belong to.”
Sounds like a Soros op.
I wonder who their local Hillary/Jug-ears are.
What would William Tell think?
A ping of possible interest to ya.
I wish Errol Flynn had been able to make that movie.
These days, Big Media would have convinced Tell to shoot his kid’s mom for not aborting, and save an arrow for President Trump.
