WASHINGTON - Top officials from 75 companies descended on the U.S. Capitol Wednesday to try to convince lawmakers to support the creation of a carbon price mechanism to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Among them were more than 20 companies from the Fortune 500, including brand names like Levi's, Johnson & Johnson and Pepsi, along with European oil majors BP and Shell, who took meetings with Republicans and Democrats in Congress in a bid to increase momentum for legislation addressing climate change.

At a press conference Wednesday, none of the executives gathered gave any chance to a carbon price passing the Republican-led Senate or getting the support of President Donald Trump, who has questioned the severity and causes of climate change.
But they argued momentum was on their side, hoping that political leaders would either be convinced or be voted out of office.

Ultimately any carbon tax will be paid by the consumer. I would support a carbon tax if the Income tax was abolished. The theory that a tax raises the price of something and thus reduces the amount of that something applies to carbon and income. Why reduce the incentive to generate income thus reducing productive work when a reduction in carbon will “save the planet”? Or not, I wouldn’t really care.
Jumping the shark, if we are the first on line and bring it up we can pass along the cost to the consumer easily with the help of our sickening law maker criminals in congress
