“...and I was really afraid that despite all Trump was saying he was really a NewYork liberal trying to trojan horse his way into office as a Republican.”
I hear you. I was a very strong Cruz supporter in 2016. I felt the same way about Trump. I was ready to cast a vote for the Constitution Party candidate as a protest.
But about two weeks before the election, I came on board and voted for Trump.
“...ready to cast a vote for the Constitution Party candidate as a protest....”
I felt the same way. At first I thought what Trump was doing was a publicity stunt. Then I thought he was on a ego trip and at best would be a loud mouthed Nelson Rockefeller. However to stop Hellary I would vote for a loud mouth Nelson Riddle or Nelson of South Park.
I never throw my vote away! Voting has two components:
1) voting for someone &
2) vote against someone - to deny them power!
Using component 2) to deny someone power is often more important then giving someone power. Recent history demonstrates that! It’s rare I get to exercise component 1). I thought 2016 was another example of 2) perhaps the single most extreme example of 2) in my life. Now Trump is out-Reaganing Reagan 1) & 2) will both be exercised with pleasure.

I voted early. I think it would have made a difference if I had voted on election day.
