It doesn’t matter if I think they would allow whites to do this: Evidently, these are not the official graduation ceremonies (in which case you would be right, btw!) These seem to be duplicate ceremonies for disparate tribes who wish to bond together and celebrate.

What if, after the formal ceremony, the Italian, Jewish, German. Mexican groups wanted to do this? The school would have to sanction these, I’m thinking. They would be in a boatload of hot water legally if they allowed the others to do it.

I tried to get worked up over this and I can’t.

So this is what they fought for 50 years ago? Is this that 'new America' M.L. King was suggesting us - reverse segregation? I doubt it. If black students want to earn respect and be an equal part of our society (which I believe they totally deserve), they should face the truth. There are differences in our cultures, history, etc. We can't eliminate them in the near future so we have to learn how to live with it and use it for the common good. So better stop using different grademiners, cheating, fake ceremonies and begin solving real problems of their communities. It doesn't matter for anyone future if there will be white graduates on the ceremony of they will have their 'blacks-only' ceremonies. In fact, it can only cause more racial tensions.

Ralph Abernathy was in charge of tent city in DC in the late 60s and he complained that groups were segregating into nationalities. Self segregation seems to be somewhat normal among all groups

In January 2008, just as the Great Recession began, 25% of Black college graduates worked for a government agency or for a government contractor.

I have searched for a more recent number, but it's such a controversial topic they probably stopped collecting the data as soon as Obama was sworn in.

Most blacks do not want to really assimilate. They want to be different, to have that race card, to have their own territory, to be ‘special’. Common knowledge, unspoken truth.
