They also need to increase quality. I won’t ever buy another GM product. In fact, after owning a scion 1st gen xB (225k miles on it and still runs like new), and what I’ve heard about the Camry, I’ve completely switched to being a Toyota only guy. Period.

I’m old and it’s all about reliability. When I see blatant fails on a car I’m done with the brand. I’m not an auto beta tester. I did that with a brand new 1980 Buick Skylark. I swore I wouldn’t buy another GM product I violated my rule and got a 2004 z71 silverado. The truck harkens back to the 60’s - everything breaks. And most of them are chronic problems with the truck. I’m talking failed instrument cluster, failed fan switch, failed heater output control, failed mirror motors, window motor, exhaust, can’t get the spare off, rusted through brake lines, power steering hose connector.

About the only thing that has not failed is the actual 4WD drivetrain. What crap.

Guess I am a very lucky GM owner.

Bought only ONE new car in my entire life-—all others were used.

Bought 1965 Pontiac Catalina station wagon in Feb of 12965 for $3434 out the door-—tax, license and extras. Put over 444,000 miles on that car in 32 years & sold it to a guy in Sweden who restored the exterior. The running gear worked just fine. Did an engine rebuild at 251,000 miles.

I bought a used 1979 Buick station wagon in August of 1981 for $3500. It now has over 215,000 miles on it and had engine gone thru & freshened up in 1998 at 155,000 miles.
Parts are not expensive-—I get most of my parts at Summit Racing.

I bought a used 1976 1 ton dually Chevy truck with a 4 speed Granny low transmission in April of 1986 for $4000 with 90,000 miles on it. It now has over 348,000 miles on it. Current engine—built by same guy as Buick—has less than 8000 miles on it because I don’t tow horses everywhere any more.

I also owned a 1957 Pontiac in 1957. Ex-husband sold it out from under me in 1959. I still hate him for that.

A 1959 Pontiac in early 1960. Same Ex-husband crashed that new car into a large stone church while drunk & totalled the car. Hate him even more for that.

A 1933 Chevy pick up truck with 1952 straight 6 in it in 1960. Don’t remember cost. Painted over the rust with SILVER Rustoleum & a BRUSH. Got laughed at, but it was transportation & it started when temp was -70 once in Wisconsin-—before ‘wind chill’ stats. I pushed started the other 5 cars in the family driveway on the farm.

A 1952 Chevy fastback in 1963.

Am now 79, and these 2 current vehicles have to last until I die.
