1970s, since you asked. That was the one instant in time when we basically had equal rights for the races and the sexes. Needless to say, it was our side that gave these rights to minorities and women.
The problem was that their side was far too organized and mobilized relative to our side, so they kept going, and going, and going - and they also took/had control of the media, so no effective way to fight them even when we tried.
