Related to this, I was reading something, I think in Forbes, about predictive markets for various events. You've probably heard about this for things like presidential elections. Like you win $1 if Trump wins the election, and in Sept 2016, that option was selling for 30 some cents.

Anyway, expanding beyond that, it is a way for people in the know, to put their money where their mouth is. It can be for all sorts of stuff, that will help people make good decisions in advertising and investing. And so decision makers can see what people in the know are willing to put their money on.

It can be things like will Verizon launch 5G service in Peoria, IL by 2020, will GM re-open a car plant in Ohio in 2019, to will the Tampa Rays move to Charlotte by 2021. It's a way for people in the know to tip their hands about business decisions.

It is a political football, but it is not going away.
Trump wants it and the Dems want it.
