Winter storm? Uh, guys - it’s mid MAY, call it what you want, though it ain’t Winter.
Went camping at May Lake in Yosemite on a warm Friday afternoon, pitching my tent in tee-shirt weather. Turned cold after dusk, but didn’t present a problem as the sleeping bags were good. Awakened next morning-surprise!-a foot of snow on the ground.
Two inch flakes falling at a furious pace prompted our group to strike camp and proceed west, once down to the Tioga Pass road. Snow ended above the 5000 ft. elevation and weather turned sunny everywhere west of the NP. Happened Memorial Holiday weekend of 1988, two weeks further toward summer.
