It is getting harder to track the status, because there are so many moving parts now, and individual project timelines are sometimes shorter than before. Additional new contracts have been established. Newly awarded segments are spread all over.

This year there is also a much bigger rollout of technology than in past years. Much better surveillance is coming to long stretches of unfortified border (Like the Tohono O'Odham Reservation in Arizona, East of Organ Pipe), and basically all the new barrier comes with a big new technology upgrade covering its miles as well.
