California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday pardoned seven former felons, including two Cambodian refugees the Trump administration wants to deport, in his first acts of clemency since the Democrat took office in January.
Newsom adopted a policy of his predecessor, former Gov. Jerry Brown, to use his state constitutional authority to issue pardons to shield immigrants targeted by federal immigration officials.
The pardons are an unmistakable rebuke to President Trump, whose fiery anti-immigrant rhetoric and demands for giant wall along the U.S.-Mexico border have been central to the escalating political feud between Newsom and the White House.

One of the Cambodian refugees pardoned by Newsom, Hay Hov of Oakland, was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in March. He has since been released.
Hov .. was convicted of solicitation to commit murder and participation in a criminal street gang

I hope these guys don’t murder anyone, but if they do I pray that as a member of Newsom’s family.
State Governor can pardon federal offenses?
Democrat voters, evil and ignorant. Wonderful combination
ICE discovered she was wanted in her home country on 'aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder charges' She was turned over to local authorities where shell presumably be prosecuted for allegedly murdering a man in San Miguel...But not, unfortunately, until after she was allowed to stay in the United States unlawfully for more than two years
Perhaps he’s pardoning the local ones and spiriting them out of sight and merely ABETTING a federal crime.
Wow! In his benevolence, did he also bestow United States citizenship upon them? They are still breaking the law being here. Charge and convict them again on a new violation.
State Governor can pardon federal offenses?
Is it too late for the few American citizens left in California to wake tf up?
That they were pardoned for state crimes...they can still be deported. This does not preclude ICE from deporting any of them.
California is in a state of rebellion. Newsom and other principal state officials need to be arrested and made an example of before we have a full on North Mexico state.
Are they staying at the gov’s house? Why not?
I think that anyone that is harmed or killed by these POS’s should be able to sue Gavin or any other governor that pulls this crap for the sole reason of helping an illegal alien violent criminal to stay in America.
Trump should go Lincoln on their arses
CA officials once again putting fraudulently documented foreigners ahead of citizens.

Why?
Deport them.
No, he can't. But sometimes aliens are in this country legally (green card, work visa, etc.), but become deportable because they were convicted of a felony in state court. In those cases, if the Governor pardons the state offense, the alien becomes a legal resident again.
This doesn't apply to illegal aliens-- who are deportable whether or not they commit a crime--or to legal aliens who become deportable by being convicted in federal court of a federal felony.
Congress could change this by amending the law to say that a conviction in state court of a felony renders an alien deportable whether or not subsequently pardoned by the Governor, but it hasn't changed the law.
IF they leave California-—Can they be rearrested?
This is actually a cruel thing to do. I suspect these illegal foreign nationals believe that they are untouchable. State crimes may6 be erased but they are still liable to br exported by ICE for any crime at all including being illegally in the country. I suspect that they may become targets.
Well, that will help crime, overcrowded housing and schools, traffic, wages, etc. Thanks for taking a big dump on America and its citizens, Gavin....you a-hole.
