We import about 9% to 10% of the 'Saudi Arabian Light Sweet Crude Oil'.
Two reasons:
(1) It is one of the best oils in the world.
(2) Refineries have to be set up for the type of oil they refine. It is VERY expensive to set the refineries up for a different crude...
Saudi Arabia has lots of this oil.

Our West Coast is so LIBERAL they may soon ban refining oil altogether there.
