I have access to a private range nearby. I would take a couple of rifles and a hand gun for the afternoon and burn through a lot of ammo. The only way to buy ammo is by the case. It’s cheaper and you should always have more than you think you will need.

Lately, when the weather is nice my Indian Scout calls my name louder and I gotta get some two wheeled wind therapy. You’d understand if you ever rode a Scout. Sweet.

Not enough time to shoot and ride as much as I’d like. Putting food on the table is so annoying.

PVC pipe with desiccant.

8” x 3’ length max. Sealed with a glued-in end cap at one end and a screw in head opposite.

Just get a dozen 30 round AR mags and load them with green tip and put 6 of them in a chest rig with pouches or a plate carrier if you want to spend the money

ammoseek.com is a valuable service.

But over time I looked there less and less as TargetSportsUSA, with Prime Ammo, always had the best price.

I’m with you...No such thing as too much ammo...Never has been; never will be...

Stored in GI cans, in a cool, dry place, it will keep indefinitely...

When the floor starts to sag, split it up and make a new cache...

Unless the floorboards are creaking you don’t have enough. The stuff keeps forever if properly stored.

4X4 under the floor keeps it all away from quickly reaching the cellar

A good guide is when so much ammo on the west side in the house makes the house lean, load up on the east side til the house is level again

5. Buy lifetime ammo supply

The reality is each year arms infringement worsens.
Republicans are inept.
Buy early while you can.
Bring your dog. let him dig a deep hole.

Once the government bans guns, owning ammo is like having bars of gold in your possession.

The most important thing for a gun owner to realize is this;

1. Guns must be in close proximity for use, in the event you need them.

2. You need a lot of ammo to practice, practice, and practice. You need to be deadly and lethal in accuracy under high stress situations.

Finally, HERE is the very most important reason why you need a lot of ammo. The article talks about many things that are NEVER covered, but which historically happen during politically sponsored anti-gun actions.

In an after SHTF world ammo will be a bartering commodity.

I have to admmit, I had something strange happen to me awhile back that made me think about bulk ammo. I bought 1000 rounds of no name 9mm ammo back in the 80's. I shot a few boxes and it was fine. I lived and moved and moved and lived in different places so about 15-20 years later, I pulled the old 9mm out and was going to plink some. I shot a couple and then had a stovepipe, a couple more and a jam. I looked at the brass and it looked as though that were loaded hot. Pimpled primers and stretch marks, and after a couple more rounds, a split case. I shot maybe 20 shots all together and the ammo was usless for anything serious. Retrieved another box and the same thing. Then the gun wouldn't eject. I had a bent ejector.

I couldn't figure out what went wrong as I had shot these same rounds a few years back just fine with the same gun.

I asked around and was told that after storage and moving, the powder can break into smaller pieces and make the powder burn too fast. I had military rounds from the 50's that shot fine so I doubted that explanation. As it turned out, I removed the bullets and the guy was right. The powder looked as if it had several different powders in the brass case. Some as small as sand and others twice as big. Apparently carting cases of ammo around in a car trunk for hundreds of miles jiggles some powders enough to make them disintegrate.

Pulled the bullets, reloaded modern powder, and seated the same bullets in the same cases and all was solved.

I suppose if you buy thousands of rounds to store in your closet and never move them it will be all right, but don't jiggle them to much.

No it doesn’t. I have bmg.50 from 1944 and you’re correct it still fires, but according to what Ive read the velocity of older rounds is significantly less than when they were new. Trying to find someone with a chronograph to test this.
