I don’t think he was killed because he was catholic. However catholic and Christian faith teaches the highest love is to lay down your life for others so maybe indirectly he was. He was killed because he rushed the shooter saving other lives.

Exactly right. Kendrick wasn't killed "for" being a Catholic, but he sure lived --- and died --- in the Faith, while the shooters are still living in thier faithlessness.
