Let Walmart know we want alternatives for them buying from China, how about goods made in our hemisphere?

Tech companies like HP and Cisco made big China investments
and even educated Chinese students in Cisco academies, and now China subsidized manufacturers are building and selling
dirt cheap 5G products with our intellectual property inside.

Maybe its time for HP , Cisco and others to pull production out of China.

Yes but any move out of China hurts China. It’s all part of the trade war. Also some of the manufacturers move back to the USA. The war goes. We are only doing what needed to be started 20 years ago.

We have the rare earth minerals here in the USA. China has been toying with the market to make it uneconomical to mine here. They play with fire.

“Some are saying...”

It really is up to you to educate yourself. “Some” people will say anything, if there is a buck in it for them.

Having said that, and I am by no means an expert, of course tariffs (costs outside of control of a free market) add to free market costs. So does the cost of loss of a free market in a form such as a monopoly.

The Chinese are in the dedicated mode of creating monopoly for themselves. If you are paying attention, you see that you no longer save anything on much of Chinese product. Now that US and other competitors are gone, the price of Chinese product has returned to Made-in-USA levels. Of course, the quality is not, and never was, there. This is WITHOUT any if these proposed additional tariffs.

So, the Chinese are in open economic warfare. The US consumer is not “saving” anything, and now he has not much of an economy around him, either.

Simply, the way I look at it is, “You want your neighbor to have a job, too. Don’t you?” We can’t all work for other people’s tax money or trim lawns.

In short, China will wonder why both Foxconn and Pegatron decide to set up manufacturing facilities in Vietnam instead of expanding their Chinese factories.

You have no Constitutional right to a "free" market out side the 50 states.

China says they will break Walmart if they are not allow to import substandard good unimpeded. For now on we will be forced to purchase higher quality goods from other sources, that will teach us.

They simply can’t retaliate on anything remotely close to a 1:1 basis.

Agreed. I hope they don’t punish us by decreasing the stellar quality of their products.

Thank you, and I am sure I agree, but I don’t completely understand what your reply is meant to convey.

I don’t even think I have a Constitutional right to a “free market” even inside the 50 states, either, for that matter.

Caveat: if your side has rare materials that can only be found on your real estate and they other side needs them to survive, you have them by the balls.

Or you have to buy them from a third party over which you have some leverage so they don't jack the price through the roof.
