Arizona teen Thomas Torres-Maytorena is supposed to graduate in two weeks. Instead, the 18-year-old who has lived here since he was a toddler, is facing deportation to Mexico, a country he's never known.
In response, over 100 classmates at Desert View High School in Tucson walked out and marched four miles to the local sheriff's office, demanding the release of Torres, a popular senior and football player now in the custody of U.S. Border Patrol. Torres was born in Mexico and brought to the U.S. when he was a toddler by his parents. He recently attended his senior prom.
But last week, he was pulled over by a Pima County deputy. A statement from the sheriff's office claims the stop was made due to a "mandatory insurance suspension on his vehicle." After he couldn't produce a valid license, "he admitted to the deputy that he was in the country illegally."
Torres was turned over to Border Patrol and has a hearing date of May 22, the same day he was due to graduate. Border Patrol is tight lipped about his fate.

It wasn't his prom, it was the High School's prom and he was at the HS illegally.
How many of the “100” were illegals themselves, or simply Hispanic?
Average per pupil spending is over $10,000/year. As I see it he owes local property taxpayers $120,000 plus interest.
He is driving a car without insurance and no license. Any conservative American would be put in jail for a year for that. I think deporting someone here illegally with the same charge is not unreasonable. Well, unless he’s a democrat. Then he should get a Presidential freedom metal.
Guess his parents are illegal too....
How many times have they voted?
If it is something that a US citizen would serve time for then it is unreasonable that he should merely be deported without also serving time first.
Hey Tomas; Vaya con Dios, pendejo!
He wasn't an illegal alien. His father was a diplomat at the Ecuadorian consulate, and he was re-assigned back to Ecuador.
He obeyed the law, and none of the students and loyal fans of Kearny High School marched anywhere to prevent him from leaving.
These morons in Arizona should grow the hell up and get a life.
Illegally Going to High School on the backs of taxpayers is theft.
Guess his parents are illegal too....
...
I’m outraged!
They should be deported as a family.
I’d rather we tax payers not have to foot the bill for him taking up prison space, and while there getting perks of further education etc that some prisoners have. Deport now and keep him out and his parents any one else here illegally too!
Then we become known as the place to go to commit crimes with the only consequence being sent home for free.
Enrollment 2,031 students. Good for the overwhelming majority.
DEPORT all illegal aliens immediately.
VISA overstays included.
No exceptions.
No excuses.

What you said.
Wow, his parent made a very bad decision and really messed up his life.
He and his family owes us over 100k. Pay up!!
His life isn’t any more messed up than the children of diplomats and military members and expats who give their children the opportunity to experience a different country while growing up. He can still have a full rich life somewhere else where he is legal.
