Top US general: Pentagon, DHS working on 'multi-year plan' for border
The Hill ^ | 05/08/19 | Ellen Mitchell

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Wednesday said that the Pentagon is working with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop a “multi-year plan" for the border, suggesting that active duty and National Guard troops will be deployed to the southern border for the remainder of President’s Trump's first term.

“What we’re hopeful to do is to have, in fairly short order, for the secretary of Homeland Security, a much more predictable, comprehensive plan for the next couple years,” Gen. Joseph Dunford said during a Senate Appropriations defense subcommittee hearing.

The Defense Department has provided a two-star general “plus a number of planners” to DHS “to “lay out the next couple of years.”

Dunford said the so-called “interagency planning team” will prepare around the number of migrants expected to come to the southern U.S. border, the capacity of DHS to handle the migrants and the expected support DHS will need from the rest of the government.

“Although the commitment to the border hasn’t impacted our preparedness for other missions at this point, what we wanted to do is get into a more predictable mode of the requirements that the Department of Homeland Security has and do better at integrating across the government,” Dunford said. About 1,167 of the troops are performing the primary role of monitoring and detection, but a broader set of missions range from logistical support to aviation support to food service.

The administration has said troops will stay at such posts until DHS “no longer requires DOD support to secure the southern border.”

In the hundreds of postings here in Free Republic rarely is this brought up. It’s Known As Reciprocity. We should be treating anybody illegally crossing the Mexican border into the US the way the Mexican’s do treat any American illegally doing the same.crossing into Mexico. Entry denied fined and possible imprisonment.

It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen entering illegally exempting those who do so legally and meet US citizenship requirements.

Democrats with their open border jingo bingo should not be allowed to allow to pervert the concept of sovereignty get twisted into being propagandized as “White Nationalism”. Use of that term is usually directed when the immigration issue is brought up to devalue of the protections an American citizen have by being one. When allowing the hordes illegally entering the US through the Mexican border avoid recognizing and dealing with the 2nd class treatment that American citizens get while legally residing in Mexico which not just includes denial of voting privileges but employment, and land ownership in their name. All of which when given to illegals and property ownership by them is used in states which Mexico has previously claimed.that could be used to support any reclaiming effort should regime changes in Mexico arise , Our border with Mexico has always been contentious, those barriers are a must .

Today’s so called democrats insist Americans must allow illegals storm in here by the hundreds of thousands despite their cost to us citizens. Claiming benefits are cheap labor which winds up removing PT job opportuities for citizens including teenagers and full time work for blacks. That open door sanctuary policy is suddenly requireing billion$ in tax dollars, which is never enough. Tax money that should be going to our citizens for their sustenance, health, education, and housing even infrastructure are being diverted to illegal’s needs. But Americans must do the tax flagellating punishment because we’re the very rich United States and must divert those billion$ to fill the needs of those poor illegals plus give them the right to vote. Sustained by our tax money which our children’s children if not aborted will be paying for.

What never gets mentioned in all of this is the lacking reciprocal treatment. If we applied that policy . Would this continue ? And until that is changed the US and the affected state should consider making that reciprocal. Prohibiting any illegal entrant employment, voting, and land ownership privileges fully enforced .In other words Sneak into this country before expulsion no job no voting no landowning ..

Why is that so hard?

Year 1: Build the Wall.
Year 2: Maintain and Guard the Wall and capture and return anyone climbing over or crawling under it.
Year 3: Same as Year 2.
Year 4: Same as Year 3.
etc.

We're done here.

The bonehead decisions to mis interpret the Posse Comitatus act is causing the havoc. The military can interdict on the border and do hands on border enforcement LIKE SOLDIERS HAVE DOING SINCE ARMIES WERE INVENTED..

Because when we shoot, say, Iranians far away no one cares but shooting Mexicans is too close to home and makes us look bad.

There are many reasons for the failure that is our now broken immigration system.

One of them is PRECEDENCE.

Over the years we have allowed exception after exception to our immigration laws thereby setting up 'precedence'.

Our system is now a Gordian Knot of exceptions to the rule which are now considered de facto laws based on 'precedence'.

The only way to regain law and order is a return to original law.

Unfortunately liberal groups and liberal judges have established 'precedence' which now seems to trump written immigration laws.

Democrats love to establish and then flaunt 'precedence' to get away with anything.

Letting Democrats establish 'precedence' was the beginning of the end.
