Jared Kushner has long been pushing for an expansion of H1B visas and guest worker programs. My guess is that this proposal increases quotas for legal immigrants in some categories in exchange for some provisions for cracking down on illegals.
I'll withhold further judgment until I've seen the details, but as you say, if Jared Kushner pushed it and the GOP establishment mostly approves, it doesn't sound very promising
With asylum entry at 1+ million per year with 6 uears til a hearing before a judge, something has to give.
The bottom line issue is that pro open borders has a congressional majority, so after a presidential veto there will be this current system still in effect with over a million pouring in each year.
The earliest primary is about a year away, and even if we knock off a few amnesty Republicans, history says it won’t be enough.
I always try to remember that the current system is a win win for the open borders crowd.
