Now, Abrams is peddling this war cry: “we don’t need to concede elections anymore, because when we concede, we are condoning systems that are used to oppress us.”

Huh? You never needed to concede elections - conceding simply means you give up and let the other guy win, usually when there's not much hope for ballots to count your way. If no one concedes, the race simply counts all the ballots and declares a winner.
