Missing Mifsud was hidden in Rome
El Foglio ^ | April 18, 2019 | Luciano Capone

One of the key turning points in the investigation happened in Italy. It is no coincidence that US Senator Lindsay Graham, one of Trump's closest allies and one of the leading critics of Mueller's investigation, has been visiting Rome over the last few days. There are many unanswered questions, one of the most important being: where is Joseph Mifsud? Il Foglio does not know, but it can reveal where he hid for seven months after disappearing: in Rome, in a rented flat paid by Link Campus University. Mifsud taught there, and Il Foglio understands that he owns 35 per cent of Link International, which Link Campus owns 55 per cent of (the remaining 10 per cent is owned by Roberto Lippi, domiciled in Bogotà, Colombia).

So do I, but I fear that Deep State will protect the institution at all costs. They will rationalize their behavior and prevent accountability. For example, FISA abuse will be swept under the rug because Congress has been sold a bill of goods that our civil liberties must be sacrificed on the altar of security.

Very interesting article. It emphasizes that Link University was affiliated with Italy's anti-EU Five Star Movement, which has been accused by critics of promoting pro-Russian propaganda, as in this January 2017 Guardian article:

Italy's Five Star Movement part of growing club of Putin sympathisers in west: M5S leader Beppe Grillo’s attitude to Russia has changed markedly as Kremlin courts anti-establishment parties

As the M5S’s rhetoric has become pro-Russian, it is simultaneously becoming more critical of the EU, including a vow to hold a referendum on the euro. Such a vote would be likely to have a destabilising effect on European unity, even if in practice it would be difficult to execute a departure from the single currency. Grillo has also called for a 'review' of the EU’s open borders under the Schengen agreement, in response to the shooting in Milan of Anis Amri, the suspected terrorist behind last month’s attack on a Berlin Christmas market. In the meantime, Russia has forged ties with far-right parties across Europe, including Marine Le Pen’s Front National. In an interview earlier this year, Alexander Dugin, a political scientist who has been called Putin’s Rasputin, made it clear that the M5S was on his radar, telling the Defend Democracy Press website – incorrectly – that the party has called for a referendum on Italy’s exit from the EU. If the Italians, Germans and French were given the chance to withdraw, he claimed 'it would happen the next day'.

Putting this in the context of opposition to Brexit, was Misfud helping the Western intelligence community track the Five Star Movement, and was his involvement in infiltrating the Trump campaign related to this?

"Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD or EFD2) is a populist Eurosceptic[4] political group in the European Parliament. The EFDD group is a continuation for the Eighth European Parliament of the Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) group that existed during the Seventh European Parliament, with significant changes to group membership. In 2017, it was one of the seven political groups of the parliament. This group is opposed to European integration.[5] 24 out of its 47 MEPs were from the United Kingdom, representing the UK Independence Party. Its president is British politician Nigel Farage, who was elected for the UK Independence Party, and then became an independent in 2018 before joining the Brexit Party in 2019. David Borrelli of the Italian Five Star Movement was co-president until January 2017,[5] when he had to resign the co-presidency after a failed attempt by his party's MEPs to transfer to the ALDE group.[": Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy

From the article in the original post: Mifsud lived in an apartment in Rome, in Via Cimarosa 3, owned by a Greek diplomat, and the rent was paid by Link Campus.--do we have a name for this diplomat?

More background: Link Campus University was set up as the Italian branch of the University of Malta, originally a Jesuit institution (footnote: the CIA actively cultivated ties to the Knights of Malta via notably James Jesus Angleton and Bill Casey, and this played into the ACUE movement that led to the formation of the European Union--again relevant in connection with Brexit mentioned in my previous post). The president of Link, mentioned in the article as trying to cover up the university's affiliations with Misfud, is Italian politician Vincenzo Scotti, affiliated with Christian Democracy, a party the CIA funded against the Communists in 1948, with Angleton as a key player in that operation. Scotti reportedly helped arrange a ransom for a CD politician who had been kidnapped by the Red Brigades in 1981. His associate in that incident, Antonio Gava, was allegedly linked to the Camorra, a Naples-based organized crime group parallel to the Mafia.

I don't think so. I would note that the M5S is working with the Northern League.

It is important to remember who put Papadopoulos in contact with Mifsud in the first place. GP says that he informed the London Center for International Law Practice (LCILP) that he was leaving to join the Trump campaign. The LCILP recommended that GP visit Rome and Link University. They even paid his way despite the fact that he was leaving. It appears the website for the LCILP is down. It seems like a front organization attached to UK/US intelligence. CTH provides the following timeline:

♦June 2015 Papadopoulos reaches out to Corey Lewandowski for job in Trump Campaign.

♦Sept. 2015 Papadopoulos again reaches out to Corey Lewandowski.

♦Sept. 30, 2015, Michael Glassner informs Papadopoulos campaign not currently hiring foreign policy advisers. Papadopoulos goes to work for Carson campaign.

[Note: Carson’s campaign is run by Barry Bennett; a DC political consultant partnered with Dick Cheney’s daughter Mary Cheney “BKM Strategies” (Yes, that Dick Cheney).

♦Early Feb. 2016 Papadopoulos leaves Carson campaign.

♦Early Feb. 2016 Papadopoulos joins London Center for International Law Practice (LCILP)

♦March 2, 2016, Papadopoulos emails Trump campaign again, looking for role.

♦March 3, 2016, Sam Clovis sets up interview with Papadopoulos.

♦March 6, 2016, Sam Clovis interviews Papadopoulos.

♦Mid March, 2016, Papdopoulos travels to Rome as part of LCILP role. During visit Papadopoulos introduced to Joseph Mifsud. Mifsud introduced as professor for London Academy for Diplomacy, London England.

♦March 17,2016, Papadopoulos returns to London.

♦March 21, 2016, President Trump names Papadopoulos amid list of foreign policy advisors, with focus on energy sector.

♦March 24, 2016, Papadopoulos meets Mifsud in London. Mifsud accompanied by Olgya Polonskya who Mifsud introduced as former student/Putin niece. [sketchy]

♦March 31, 2016, Trump campaign foreign policy team meeting, Washington DC. Trump International Hotel. [famous table photograph with Papadopoulos, Sessions, Trump]

♦Early April, 2016, Mifsud continues contact w/ Papadopoulos via email. Ms. Polonskya also emailing Papadopoulos; however, later discovered Mifsud actually writing Polonskya emails. Papadopoulos returns to London, U.K.

♦April 11, 2016, Mifsud emails Papadopoulos about his upcoming travel to Russia. Suggests meeting for following day, April 12.

♦April 12, 2016, Papadopoulos and Mifsud meet at Andaz Hotel in London, U.K. This meeting is in advance of Mifsud traveling to Russia.

♦April 18, 2016, Mifsud emails Papadopoulos from Russia. Introduces Ivan Timofeev.

♦April 25, 2016, Mifsud returns to London after stopover in Rome.

♦April 26, 2016, Papadopoulos and Mifsud meet again at Andaz Hotel in London, U.K. During meeting Mifsud claims Russians “have dirt” on Hillary Clinton; “emails of Clinton”; and “thousands of emails”.

♦May 6, 2016, Papadopoulos gets call from Christian Cantor (Israeli Embassy) wanting to introduce his ‘girlfriend’ Erika Thompson (Australian Embassy aide to Ambassador Alexander Downer). They meet at a London Pub.

[NOTE: Mueller cites the content of May 6, 2016, meeting as communicating “clinton emails” from Papadopoulos; however, Mueller conflates and falsely attributes the content material of this Erika Thompson meeting. Mueller attributes content to Ambassador Downer meeting with Papadopoulos on May 10, 2016. Conflation appears intentional]

♦May 6, 2016, Following initial meeting Papadopoulos gets email from Erika Thompson suggesting meeting with her boss, Australian Ambassador Alexander Downer.

♦May 10, 2016, Papadopoulos meets Ambassador Downer at the Kensington Wine Rooms in London, England. MEDIA CLAIM: “Downer met with George Papadopoulos, where Papadopoulos — having been introduced through two intermediaries, Christian Cantor and Erika Thompson — mentioned that Russians had material on Hillary Clinton.” Both Papadopoulos and Downer refute their May 10th meeting discussed Clinton emails. Papadopoulos notes that Ambassador Downer is recording their conversation.

♦May 11, 2016, Ambassador Downer files notes to Australian government about the content of the conversation and the outlook of the Trump campaign foreign policy.

♦July 2016, Alexander Downer decided to inform the United States Embassy in London, England about his conversation with Papadopoulos, upon the release of the Democratic National Committee’s e-mails by WikiLeaks on July 22, 2016.

♦July 26, 2016, Mueller says (pg 89, fn465) Australia informs U.S. government of Papadopoulos statements about Clinton emails.

♦July 31, 2016, A few days after receiving notification from Australia, the U.S. intelligence “EC” [Electronic Communication (possibly authored by Peter Strzok)] is used to begin FBI counterintelligence operation “Crossfire Hurricane.”

♦August and Sept., 2016, U.S. intelligence officials use FBI/CIA operatives (ie. spies), including a woman named Azra Turk (alias), together with FBI/CIA operative informant Stefan Halper to coordinate multiple operations against Trump campaign.

Thanks for the timeline and for drawing attention to the LCILP. I agree UK/US intelligence is probably at the heart of the matter. To clarify, I was not suggesting that Italian politics was central to Misfud's interest in Trump, just that he may already have been in place helping MI6 (and possibly other agencies) monitor anti-EU groups in Italy such as M5S and the Northern League that would have been regarded by British intelligence as allies of pro-Brexit groups; the Bris may have seen Trump as aligned with these same groups, putting Misfud in a position where he would already have been in place to deploy against Trump.

However that turns out, it's clear LCILP is of key significance. I am able to get to their website, but it has been stripped of any useful information. However, I did find an archive of Misfud's profile on their site:

Your post also notes Misfud's connection to the London Academy of Diplomacy, which is affiliated with the University of East Anglia under one Nabil Ayad, who seems to specialize in training diplomats for working in the Middle East, rather similar in background to Nagi Idris. Ayad also shows up at Link Campus University with Idris in March 2017 for a G7 international forum under the auspices of the Italian G7 presidency; his affiliation there is listed as "The Academy for Diplomacy and International Governance, Loughborough University".

More on Nabil Ayad, in his own words: I founded the Academy of Diplomacy and International Governance at Loughborough University London and was the Director from November 2014 until October 2017. . .As Professor of Diplomatic Studies and Applied International Relations, Director and Head of the Diplomatic Academy of London [DAL] at the University of Westminster and more recently as Founder and Director of the London Academy of Diplomacy [LAD], University of East Anglia, London Campus, I worked with my department and the University to provide a unique brand of training for diplomats attending the programme in London and Paris. The programmes that I have developed involve candidates with practising diplomats in class situations, simulation exercises, amd international conferences. In addition, they participate in educational visits to Ministries for Foreign Affairs and to international and regional organisations, such as NATO, the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, and the EU. An accompanying photo shows Ayad with one of G.W. Bush's ambassadors to the U.K., Robert Tuttle.
