Sen. Bernie Sanders hopes to set himself apart from his most formidable 2020 rival on a signature issue: trade.
Former Vice President Joe Biden, who has led Sanders in early Democratic presidential primary polling since entering the race a week ago, raised eyebrows Wednesday by downplaying the economic threat posed by China. At a campaign stop in Iowa, Biden said: China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man.

Sanders was the only other candidate, I was following last election.
Trump needs to get serious with China, and soon, or Bernie is going to win this issue.

I gather that the Chicoms are very popular in farm country. This might not be a gaffe by Biden. He’s playing to Iowa, IMO.

I don’t get that.
The Chinese will buy, what they will buy.
Period. The only question is whether they buy directly from us, or whether we sell to other countries, because THEY sold to China.

Bernie in the end will get bought/shoved out!
And then all the Bernie supporters will be ticked off (again) and not vote for their nominee (again), so Trump gets elected (again) ...
Brilliant strategy, Democrats!

On trade last time around, they were the two guys I was watching.
The only two.
On trade, yup. They agree.
On everything else of course, they are MILES apart. But on trade, they were very similar.
Very.
Now I just wish, that Trump would live up to the “tough on trade” handle, before Bernie runs against him on the issue.
For real.

Trump needs to get serious with China, and soon, He has. Feb imports from China were the lowest since Feb 2017. The surprise 3.2% growth in GDP was driven in part (1/3 of the growth) by an increase in net exports worldwide.

I saw a clip of Biden defending China, and the combination of senility and idiocy was very disturbing.
