Trump: ‘We’re Losing Our Ass Defending’ Saudi Arabia
dailycaller.com ^ | 4/27/2019 | Phillip Stucky

President Donald Trump during a Saturday rally in Wisconsin described a phone call with the leader of Saudi Arabia in which he demanded more money from the oil-rich nation.

“Look, Saudi Arabia, very rich country, we defend them, we subsidize Saudi Arabia. They have nothing but cash, right? We subsidize them. And they buy a lot from us, $450 billion they bought,” Trump began. “You know, You had people wanting to cut off Saudi Arabia. They bought $450 billion. I don’t want to lose ‘em! But the military, we subsidize Saudi Arabia!”

“I called the King,” he continued. “I like the King. I said ‘King, we’re losing our ass defending you, King, and you have a lot of money.’ That’s true. And he said ‘but why would you be calling me, nobody has ever made such a call before.’ I said that’s because they were stupid! So we’re working a deal with Saudi Arabia. So many places. So many places. I tell you what, honestly, it’s easier than collecting $113.57 from a tenant in a bad location in New York City. And it’s safer too.”

Yes. Reason being if Iran gets a foothold in Arabia, they may take over the Middle East and start WW3. We cannot let Arabia fall to the Mullahs.

ours dropped from 2.50 to 3.05-

I don’t understand how if we’re getting all this domestic oil, and almost energy independent, how our prices are doing nothing but climbing climbing climbing- We’re finding all these huge massive oil deposits here i n the US- but nope- prices keep climbing-

not so long ago- prices dropped from around $4.50 a gallon here to almost $2.11 or so- but seriously nothing changed other than obama left office- infact there was more demand worldwide- at that point, but prices dropped dramatically- now they are creeping back to $4 again? What has changed that the prices are now goi9gn up again? We’re finding more oil- yet it’s not dropping prices?

[[Pretty soon fracking will have oil prices at 50 cents a gallon]]

Lol- that’s what it was when i was in high school (Ciggs were also around .60 p/pack)- it stayed right around that price for many many years- then all of a sudden the prices started shooting up-

Fracking as it is now will only lower prices to a level just above the cost of pumping. It is a relatively pricey production method. Already in the recent past the sites in the Dakotas and Pa were shut down as oil prices fell to a level where fracking became unprofitable. Until fracking costa are reduced by finding better tech it will remain a good ace in the hole against sky high prices and blackmail.

What do you mean?

The Saudis are the best at keeping their friends close, and their enemies even closer.

Of course, the indefensible fallacy with that worry is that if we withdraw there will not be a Saudi Arabia for terribly long.

They lack the population and agricultural base to field the military which would be needed to enable their continued existence should we withdraw.

Which is why I have advocated a complete withdrawal since the early eighties.

Nothing wrong with supporting SA while demanding they also support us.

Trump’s gonna figure this one out - and when he does he’s going to charge the House of Saud a whole lot more or he’ll pull us out of the mercenary business that costs lives, American blood and our treasure to ‘help the effing DC ‘elites’...

Good for Trump... he needs to keep sniffin’ around... the deep state gets money from many places...

The attackers came over as students.

I do not think the king and his palace insiders sent them over as part of a plan to attack the United States.

Did those attackers get funds from the royal family? I’m sure they did. That’s how the oil funds are disbursed in Saudi Arabia. The king gives family members money, and those family members disburse them even further.

Soros was spreading around money to the Muslim Brotherhood who toppled the government of Tunisia. Would you consider that a concerted plan of the United States?

Under Obama, who knows, but the point is that some things are national policy and some aren’t.

We shouldn’t assume that the leadership of Saudi Arabia planned and condoned the attack on 09/11. I don’t believe it did. Some of the extended family members may or may not have been involved.

Saudi Arabia has a lot of money invested in the West. If it were to cause harm to the West and it’s financial markets, it would effectively be destroying it’s own wealth.

Crude oil prices have been slowly rising this year.

More importantly, gasoline prices are based not just on the price of oil but on the cost of refining it.

If you go back over the last 10-15 years, you'll find that there is a spike in gasoline prices right around this time almost every year. That's because refineries generally switch to their summer fuel blends in April and May. This does two things that affect gasoline prices:

1. Refineries have to shut down briefly to make the change, so gasoline supplies may be constrained even if oil supplies are not.

2. The summer blends are generally more expensive because they require additives (including ethanol) that are not used in the winter.

By the time we reach Memorial Day you're probably going to be seeing media reports about how much they expect gasoline prices to DROP during the peak driving summer months.

Gas dropped from $2.979 to $3.369 today here.

Missed that day in arithmetic class, huh?

I keep telling people there is no oil shortage, there is a refinery shortage.

Not all conservatives agree with US foreign policy.

Neither did Trump.

Have we gotten into any optional wars since 2016?

I don’t think Obama had anything to do with it. It was the Bush administration that looked the other way.

No, but we might be a involved in Venezuela, Yemen, and other places where we have troops. With John Bolton in there, there does seem to be less communicating and more sanctioning. I really thought Trump was going to declare an official end to the NK war and turn over that DMZ to SK, and let them overwhelm the North with a consumer economy. And we're still in Afghanistan. And I've never regarded Syria or Assad as an enemy.

Reminds me of Richard Feynman receiving the Nobel in 1965(?) where he expressed his gratitude to the King of Sweden with, “Thanks, King.”
