Wrong.
"Religion" is not the antidote to a man's corrupted fallen nature.
Christ is.
Mankind needs a regenerated nature, not a religious system of works to abuse. Religious systems do not provide the heart change necessary. They just provide the outward actions to fuel self-righteousness.
God did not create Eve for Adam to be his property, and while men have abused women throughout the ages, the reverse is true. Women are not fully innocent either.
I also find it ironic that your protests are so beautifully building the case of a moral framework outside of man to which to appeal, one that is actually based on the Judeo-Christian worldview, and proves the need for redemption.
Now that you've settled the fact that man is inherently corrupt and tends towards evil, would you care to explain where the GOOD comes from?
WHY are there good men who don't abuse their wives and suppress them?
Why are there good men who fight against the sexual exploitation of women and children?
Why are there good men who fight against the evils of slavery of all kinds?
I know many people who hate God argue that evil if proof that God does not exist. But if evil is so pervasive and so ingrained to man as you claim, now YOU are in the position of explaining, or trying to explain, where good comes from.
So have at it.
That's fine. You forget, I was addressing someone else's post when you jumped on me. That person said that sexual exploitation was a result of lack of GODLINESS. He didn't say anything about Christ.
Well, GODLINESS encompasses any religion that believes in God. That includes the Old Testament patriarchs, and the Muslims. And as I have shown, belief in God does not stop men from making women and children into sexual chattel.
You say that belief in Christ will. I think if you could not find any examples of Christians molesting children, you'd have a better case (let's not even start talking about the Vatican.) But my point all along was that this is men's sexual nature at work. If you are saying that Christ will change that, then you are essentially admitting that I am right.
As for where Good comes from, it comes from the desire not to be the victim of someone else's evil, thus the social contract is born: an agreement that we will not hurt each other, usually backed up by some organized form of police or judicial protection. It's not terribly complex.
Thank you.
