McCarthy dealt with the first wave of Communist that burst forth in the America garden. But, just as you indicate, Communists are like noxious weeds. You can weed your garden, seemingly of all noxious invaders, and before you know it they are back and more robust and pervasive than ever. Just admit it. Try as you might, you will never be able to rid your garden of all of them. If just a few survive, your entire garden will be quickly overrun unless you maintain vigilance and never give the weeds a chance to reproduce and multiply. McCarthy weeded the garden once years ago, but then Americans went on a holiday of sorts and let the weeds take over the garden again. Now we have a helluva mess on our hands and, I should add, a weaker public will to do the back breaking, hard job of weeding.
