“[1] What we did learn is that the Russians had a systemic overall assault on our electoral system and what we also did see is that [2] the president of the United States engaged in a behavior that was unethical, unscrupulous and beneath the dignity of the office that he holds,”

[1] the assertion is simply false. The Russians spent a minimal amount, about $100,000, on Facebook ads that could not possibly represent a "systematic overall assault" on our electoral system. Hillary Clinton spent something in excess of $1 billion.

[2] the assertion that the president behaved unethically, unscrupulously, or beneath the dignity of the office is at best a conflation of his perfectly true public pronouncements concerning the "witch hunt" and his private fulminations about the unfairness of the witch hunt. To conclude that these pronouncements somehow are unethical or unscrupulous or beneath the dignity of the office requires a very selective memory when it comes to the behavior of Kennedy, Johnson, Clinton and Obama whose behavior was objectively and substantively far worse, even criminal, than the most negative inferences that can be drawn about Trump.

Speaker Pelosi raises the bar describing the dignity of the office to apply to Trump the minute he was inaugurated.

For attempting to discredit his accusers, President Trump is accused of obstructing justice???? His claims of innocence are indicative of his guilt????

Isn’t this particular fallacy the very definition of a witch hunt?

Come 2020, I hope the absurdity of all this is not totally lost on the voting public.

Your assessment is dead on. He was angry and acted out because of illegal spying, illegal investigations, dirty political tricks, and absolute disregard of the Constitution by Democrats and the last POTUS illegal actions. This anger isn’t beneath the office, it SHOULD BE EXPECTED.
