Can’t explain it other than it is not easy to throw out Senate Bums
like Corker. And until Blackburn stepped up to run, there were no
credible candidates to challenge Corker.
It is very hard to vote out entrenched Senate Bums like Corker.
But Corker is out. And Alexander is retiring next year.
He had the $$ to outspend the preferred choice of Conservatives in the 2006 primary, ex-Rep. Ed Bryant. We also have open primaries and no runoffs, which helps non-Conservatives immensely, since Dems flood our primaries as they no longer win general elections. He didn’t run for a third term because this time, he was going to lose to Marsha Blackburn.
