So, putting the mentally dysfunctional into nice apartments does not magically change their behavior and make them become model citizens. Interesting, who would have thunk?

Also, I don’t understand the negativity used with the concept of “gentrification.” Seems to me that improving neighborhoods is a good thing.

This was predicted decades ago in the movie " Johnny Handsome".

John Sedley is a man with a disfigured face, mocked by others as "Johnny Handsome." He and a friend are double-crossed by two accomplices in a crime, Sunny Boyd and her partner Rafe, and a Judge sends Johnny to jail, where he vows to get even once he gets out. In prison, Johnny meets a surgeon named Fisher, who is looking for a guinea pig so he can attempt an experimental procedure in reconstructive cosmetic surgery. Johnny, figuring he has nothing to lose, is given a new, normal-looking face (making him unrecognizable to the people who knew him) before he is released back into society.

it doesn't end well for johnnys enemies or anyone else he comes in contact with

Gentrification just moves the problem to a different neighborhood. Better off just putting up a fence around the bad areas.

It is a good thing for all the liberals that infest Washington. Make no mistake, they love their gentrified neighborhoods and upscale living in the capitol city. They are elites in every sense of the word.
