At GE Appliances (a Chinese owned company), HR recently made the decision to stop recruiting certain schools such as the University of Dayton. Was it because recruiting is expensive and they weren’t getting much bang for their buck from UD? Nope. Dayton has provided a very consistent stream of employees over the years that have made a career at GEA. The reason is because the hires from UD don’t align with the “diversity profile” goals for recruitment!
I was in college decades ago, and big companies’ recruiters would meet with the black student organizations rather than the larger groups for specific majors. They had no use for white male employees that long ago - and they wonder why that same demographic sees little use for college.
It would be interesting to watch what the Chinese owners do when complaints come in that Asian males/ie ethnic Chinese males get passed over for hiring.
FedGov could bring this nonsense to a screeching halt if they wanted to.
All it would take would be to ENFORCE a provision stating that it is ILLEGAL to ask anyone what their race is.
No data in, no Affirmative Action out.
