U.S. Soldiers Are Disarmed, Held At Gunpoint By Mexican Troops In Texas

Clint, TX - Two U.S. soldiers were held at gunpoint and disarmed by Mexican troops on American soil on April 19.

CNN reported that five to six Mexican military personnel questioned the two U.S. soldiers who were conducting border support operations.

A U.S. Northern Command statement confirmed that the U.S. soldiers were "appropriately in US territory" during the encounter, according to CNN.

The Mexican soldiers not only pointed their weapons at the U.S. troops, but also removed a soldier’s sidearm and returned it to the unmarked U.S. Customs and Border Protection vehicle, U.S. military officials said.

CNN reported that the Mexican troops were armed with assault rifles. U.S. officials said the U.S. soldiers allowed the weapon to be taken in an effort to de-escalate the “potential volatile situation.”

"Throughout the incident, the US soldiers followed all established procedures and protocols," Northern Command said, according to CNN.

The encounter happened south of the border fence in the area but north of the Rio Grande, according to U.S. officials.

The river in that area has brush-filled and dried-out riverbed which makes it "very easy" for people to be confused as to what side of the border they are on.

One of the American soldiers spoke Spanish and explained the situation to the Mexican troops before the Mexican soldiers left in their unmarked pickup.

An inquiry by U.S. officials found that the Mexican military members thought the U.S. soldiers were in Mexico, according to the U.S. Northern Command.

"Though they were south of the border fence, US soldiers remained in US territory, north of the actual border," the statement said, according to CNN. The statement added that "after a brief discussion between the soldiers from the two nations, the Mexican military members departed the area."

President Donald Trump has ordered the military to support border security and the U.S. has 3,000 active duty troops and 2,000 National Guard troops in the southern border, CNN reported.

Mexico’s military knew where they were. If they’d suspected that the U.S. soldiers were on the wrong side of the border, they’d be in prison right now for firearms possession.

No

Murrieta in CA, the town that stood up to Obama’s embedding illegals in communities

That was where I led off the Greta show

She thought there was going to be bloodshed

Then we went to Texas

Yeah, absolutely NOTHING. What a effin joke. Only a sidearm on the troops. Why not arm them with automatic weapons with out bullets. That is what Bush did to the NG.

Same ol BS. All hat no cattle

Mexican soldiers should have been shot on sight. What are we doing? Is Trump tuned in to the border or not?

Dnag!

A lot of FReepers are upset over this!

I; for one; are glad to hear that Mexican troops ARE on the ‘border’!

At least they can keep the Invaders from del norte from encroaching on their land!

And somehow the mexicans missed the Rio Grande River when they crossed into the US?

The border is where the river USED to flow; NOT where it flows now.

“Throughout the incident, the US soldiers followed all established procedures and protocols,” Northern Command said, according to CNN.”

Let me get this straight, they cannot stop anyone from leaving yet instead go and harass soldiers on US soil.

Proper protocol would have been to unload a pod of MSLRs rockets on their command and control center. Either that or find someone the equal of Pershing and let him go on a foray.

Looks like Iran all over again just with the Mexican military. Reaction from the US , zero. They should tell the Mexican Gov and the military chief if this happens again the Mexican personal on US soil will be shot. A then selected military targets will be hit. What were these corrupt Mexican military people dong covering for the drug runners? Mexico is doing nothing to help with the border problem yet for some reason we let this 4th rate military run all over us. Hell the work for the cartels.

As much as this small incident raises my hackles, I agree entirely with deescalating the situation as described. Death and destruction are easy to start but hard to stop. I'd also agree with another fellow here that the border needs to be marked more clearly to help avoid further "misunderstandings" or ... LMAO ... potential "schlong measuring contests."

Frankly, I keep wondering just how much longer Mexico's profoundly corrupt, "barely functional" national government can stagger on before finally collapsing into institutional chaos. The cartels just keep springing back and growing ever more violent and terrifying no matter how much apparent effort is put into smacking them down. Given how dysfunctional governments in deeply troubled countries such as North Korea, Iran, and Venezuela have nonetheless bitterly clung to power for decades, I suppose it's not unreasonable to envision Mexico's own apparatchiks wobbling on for decades until the United States finally bites the bullet and either decriminalizes hard drugs or launches a full-scale "anti-terrorism" military crusade against the drug cartels inside Mexico itself.

Bad optics, but in absolute terms it ended well. The Mexicans acted relatively respectfully, returning the sidearm to the vehicle, and everyone went home that night. Because it made the news, it’s not going to happen like that again, probably patrols won’t be individual vehicles or have some sort of QRC nearby to back up contact incidents. All the armchair rambos out there need to take a deep breath and maybe a cold shower. Not everything is a schlong measuring contest.

Mexico is overwhelmed, infiltrated by the cartels, and barely functional as a government. Yeah they need to do a lot better, but you don’t get them serious by shooting up their troops at the least little provocation like you’re in a damned video game. Needlessly escalating a border patrol misunderstanding into a full scale force on force hot war serves no public interest... not ours, not Mexico’s.

This happens all the time, it just made the news this time. Mexican troops have been crossing the border for my entire life in units as large as armored companies. We thought we were on our side was always the excuse.
What,... I guess that Mexico is unable to teach their officers and enlisted men how to read a map. The drug runners do not seem to have the same problem.
