I really don’t think that Democrats will cross over in the primaries to vote for Weld or any other Republican primary challenger leading up to the 2020 election, because they will be more focused on the Democrat primary candidates.

Some might, just to screw with Trump. If he’s going to be reelected, the Republicans will have to unite behind him as tightly as possible. Weld will likely make that more difficult.
Weld won’t even get 1% of the vote, even Never Trumpers can’t stand the guy.

The elitist jerk is running to split the vote and be a spoiler, just as Ross Perot did to H.W. Bush. He’ll attract the Never Trump Republican votes and could be a serious problem to DJT’s re-election. Hopefully the Trump base will go to the polls in sufficient numbers to keep this a-hole in MA, where he belongs.
